Music on the Hill is a community-supported non-profit chamber music series dedicated to presenting high quality concerts at affordable prices. Since 1998, we have presented four concerts per season to enthusiastic and loyal audiences. The series is funded by local merchants, including generous gifts from the Bernal Hill Realty, Zephyr Realty, Ruth Lee Insurance, Martha & Bros Coffee, and individual patrons.
Over the years we have presented concerts with world class local artists and ensembles, including the Modern Mandolin Quartet with Chris Thile, Joan Jeanrenaud and Hank Dutt (former and current members of the Kronos Quartet), the Lee Trio, the San Francisco Guitar Quartet, Kay Stern and Anna Kruger, the Del Sol String Quartet, and the Cyprus String Quartet.
Music on the Hill has also sponsored successful music-in-the-schools programs at San Francisco public schools, including Junipero Serra Elementary School, Hoover Middle School, and San Francisco School of the Arts.
In 2009, Music on the Hill moved its venue from Bernal Heights to St. Aidan’s Church, in the Diamond Heights neighborhood of San Francisco. Designed by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, St. Aidan’s Church boasts excellent acoustics, a lovely Steinway grand piano, easy parking and a supportive community of music lovers.
In Fall 2020 and Spring 2021, we moved to livestreaming to meet the restrictions of the Covid-19 pandemic. However circumstances develop, keep current with Music on the Hill by subscribing to our free Email List!
